How we write guides and review summaries

Who is responsible

Rankings and editorial standards are maintained by Diego Reyes, Reviews Editor for Scout Local Media. Nobody who sells advertising can change a score, a summary or a guide.

Guides

Our guides are general information for participants, families and carers. Each guide:

links to the official source for rules, prices and eligibility (the NDIS, the NDIS Commission, Services Australia, the WA Government)
shows the date it was last checked

NDIS rules and price limits change, so we review guides when the rules change and at least once a year.

Review summaries

Summaries are produced by automated analysis of recent public Google reviews and checked by an editor. Our rules for summaries:

We summarise themes; we don’t quote. We don’t republish review text or reviewers’ names, and we link to Google so you can read the reviews yourself.
No staff names. We don’t name staff or owners mentioned in reviews.
Recent reviews carry more weight. When newer reviews show a complaint has been resolved, we stop repeating it.
Current concerns stay. We show up to two current watch-outs per listing, written as things to check before you sign up.
Allegations stay attributed. Complaints are reported as what reviewers say, never as established fact.
No clinical claims. For regulated health services, summaries describe services, access and communication, not treatment outcomes.

Scores

Every business is scored by the same method, published in full on how we score, with every signal and its weight.

Corrections

Found an error? Email [email protected]. We correct errors promptly and change the “Updated” date when we do. Businesses can use our listing policy.
